Does My Child have Dyslexia?

Here’s what Dyslexia therapy can do…

Reading

  • My Child is not reading at grade level.

  • Why does my child read the same books over and over again?

  • Mathematical word problems are a struggle.

You can look forward to seeing your child once again reading with ease and tackling tough words. Through multi-sensory intervention, students will develop fluency and automaticity. In addition, students will increase their vocabulary and deepen their comprehension. They will read connected text from newly-learned strategies and concepts.

Writing

  • My child’s letters and spacing are everywhere.

  • My child understands concepts and ideas, but has trouble conveying them clearly.

  • Writing is laborious and time consuming.

Students reinforce letter-sound relationships through cursive handwriting. This helps activate both sides of the brain. In return, letter-sound relationships solidify common letter reversals (ex: b & d). By fostering cursive writing, this develops motor skills and improves print handwriting. Through learning letter formations, students are better prepared with life skills that will benefit them for years to come.

Spelling

  • Is it ok if my child still pronounces words incorrectly (i.e. saying “tomato” when trying to say “tornado”)?

  • My child still has trouble spelling out basic three-letter words like cat.

  • Homework is a battle every night.

The letter-sound relationships taught will provide students with opportunities to learn spelling rules for both simple and complex words. Practice opportunities are provided to further improve your child’s reading fluency.
